Background:
Wandering Eye is a photo book recording the events of a mysterious, red coated woman making several stops across various locations in the night. Formatted to mimic film stills, the photos show no other people, as the woman makes her journey alone in the night. There is a lingering sense of loneliness and solitude in the photographs as the photo series explores themes of mystery and longing and asks the viewer to look again and asks them to fill the blanks. Where is she going? Who is she trying to see? Is someone watching her?
As the lead art director and photographer on the project, it was critical to build a narrative in the story and allow for the space a photo book creates for the viewer. Mixing portraits and landscape photos, the figure is always in action or simply waiting, mimicking the film still style. We worked together to keep the narrative at the center of the frame and follow the journey of the woman in the red coat, our wandering eye. The book is one of a kind, printed on Velin Museum Rag with Archival Ink.
